Our clients Scarlett & Wai Yin were first-time property investors looking to start their portfolio on the right foot. They had been referred to us by a previous client and were keen to get it right the first time.

The challenge

The couple were working directly with their local bank who did not know how to structure and assess for multiple properties.

If we moved ahead with their initial assessment we would have maxed them out at one property.

We needed to find a mix of cash flow and low entry price which would make the investment easy to own and leave room for more purchases. So we set off to find higher-yielding assets with some scarcity value that would also assist with growth.

what we did

The first thing we did was create a realistic budget for the family so we could get a handle on their cash flow position. We also had one of our trusted referral partners analyse their borrowing potential for multiple properties.

This allowed us to plan ahead for multiple purchases and determine what price point was required so they could keep adding to their portfolio over the next 2 years.
